"Taking care of children at camp was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Being a camp counsellor taught me so much about patience, adaptability, and the joy that comes from seeing children grow and enjoy new experiences. Each day at camp brought new adventures, I learned the importance of being a steady and positive presence. One of the most memorable parts was during the games and evening activities, also and the time that the children were involved in the games. The excitement on their faces after trying something new and succeeding was priceless. Of course, camp wasn't without its challenges. Managing group dynamics and ensuring everyone followed the rules was sometimes tricky, but it taught me a lot about leadership and communication. By the end of the camp, I felt a strong bond with each camper, and it was hard to say goodbye. In the end, my time as a camp counsellor was about more than supervising activities; it was about making an impact, building connections, and creating memories that I’ll cherish forever. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have played a role in these training experiences and to have learned so much along the way."

Application Questions
apart from personal data (name, nationality, contact details, address, education level and languages) and your CV as a PDF, the application form asks the following questions:
| # | Question | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | What is wrong with education today? Tell us one thing you believe schools are getting wrong. | There is no "right" answer. We want to see that you think critically about how children learn – ideally based on something you have experienced yourself. |
| 2 | If you could change ONE thing about the way children learn, what would you change? Why? | Choose one thing only and explain why it matters. Concrete examples convince us more than general statements. |
| 3 | Show us your idea: tell us about one creative learning activity you would love to try with children. | Describe it step by step: age group, materials, what the children do and what they learn. You can upload a photo, sketch or lesson plan with it. |
| 4 | What can you teach that most teachers cannot? | A craft, an instrument, a sport, coding, a language, a game – anything you could turn into a lesson. |
| 5 | What are you exceptionally good at? | Don't be shy. This can be a skill, a talent, or the way you deal with people. |
| 6 | Tell us about something you built, created, organised, taught or achieved that you are proud of. | Tell us what you did, what was difficult and what came out of it. |
| 7 | What experience do you have with STEM, arts, technology, entrepreneurship, environmental education or project-based learning? | Formal and informal experience both count – school, university, work, hobbies, community projects. |
| 8 | Imagine you have a classroom of 20 children tomorrow. What would you do differently from a traditional teacher? | Describe your first lesson as concretely as you can: how you start, what the children do, how you keep everyone involved. |
| 9 | Why Zanzibar? Why Assalam? Why now? | Tell us what motivates you and why this programme fits this moment in your life. |
| 10 | Video message: in 90 seconds, convince us that you should be one of the teachers helping us build the school of the future. | Speak freely – be yourself rather than reading from a script. The file limit is 10 MB, so record in low resolution or compress the video (e.g. by sending it to yourself on WhatsApp) before uploading. |
Availability: you will be asked to confirm that you can attend the full programme from 31 October 2026 to 3 January 2027 without interruption, and whether you are interested in a long-term role with us.
We recommend that you write your answers separately in a text file and then copy them into the application form, so you do not lose your progress in case your browser window closes.
